Job Summary

Kifiya Financial Technologies is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Chief Accounting and Reporting Officer (CARO) to lead Group accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, revenue assurance, and finance systems governance.

The CARO will serve as Kifiya's Chief Accounting Officer and will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timely production of consolidated financial statements and management accounts. The role will oversee IFRS-compliant reporting, Group consolidation, ERP and BI financial governance, revenue assurance, statutory compliance, and month-end close processes across Kifiya's multi-entity operations.

The position requires strong technical expertise in IFRS, Group consolidation, financial systems, and revenue recognition, combined with strong leadership and deadline-management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Group Consolidation & Financial Reporting

  • Own the Group consolidated trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement and ensure timely monthly reporting.
  • Review preliminary and final trial balances submitted by Country CFOs.
  • Challenge and resolve material accounting and reporting issues before consolidation.
  • Supervise intercompany eliminations, intragroup reconciliations, and minority interest adjustments under IFRS 10.
  • Maintain and enforce the Group chart of accounts and accounting policies in accordance with IAS 8.
  • Lead preparation of IFRS-compliant annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Ensure continuous audit readiness and accurate financial reporting.

Revenue Assurance

  • Own the Auto-Match Rate (AMR) reconciliation framework for platform-to-ledger revenue reconciliation.
  • Monitor revenue reconciliation performance against the >90% KPI target.
  • Issue monthly revenue exception reports and ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Ensure consistent application of IFRS 15 revenue recognition policies across business lines and entities.
  • Maintain the AMR exception log and ensure unresolved breaks have documented resolution plans.

ERP & BI Financial Governance

  • Own finance business design and configuration for MS Dynamics 365, including chart of accounts, cost centres, intercompany structures, and reporting dimensions.
  • Govern the Power BI financial reporting layer and approve financial dashboards.
  • Maintain ERP master data governance covering vendor, GL, cost centre, and financial dimensions.
  • Drive MS Dynamics 365 stabilization and future transition toward real-time Group consolidation.
  • Serve as the primary finance liaison with the Technology team on ERP and BI matters.
  • Establish and enforce financial posting standards across the Finance function.

Accounts Receivable & Collections

  • Own the monthly AR Ageing & Collections Status Report.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, invoicing accuracy, and collections across Group entities.
  • Monitor overdue receivables and escalate significant collection issues.
  • Ensure platform invoicing cycles are properly reconciled with the accounting ledger.

Month-End Close

  • Own and enforce the Group month-end close calendar from D1 through D7.
  • Issue standardized trial balance templates and submission deadlines to Country CFOs.
  • Review and certify country trial balances before consolidation.
  • Resolve or escalate material accounting variances.
  • Prepare the CEO Flash jointly with the FP&A Manager.
  • Issue signed Group Management Accounts for GFC attestation.

Statutory Compliance & Audit

  • Lead preparation of statutory financial statements for applicable Group entities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Coordinate year-end audits and maintain audit readiness.
  • Maintain the accounting policy register.
  • Ensure significant accounting judgments are properly documented and approved.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Ethiopian tax, NBE, and ERCA requirements related to financial reporting.

FP&A Collaboration

  • Provide certified historical financial data to the FP&A team for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure ERP financial data used for management and investor reporting is accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to ensure timely availability of Group financial accounts.

Team Leadership

  • Lead the CARO function, including Hub Finance Officers responsible for AP, AR & Payroll, Treasury, Cash, and Assets.
  • Establish financial reporting and close-calendar accountability.
  • Build team capacity in IFRS, ERP governance, and financial data quality.
  • Work closely with the GFC, FP&A Manager, and Country CFOs to maintain high-quality financial reporting.

Key Deliverables

Daily:

  • Maintain and review the AMR exception log.
  • Ensure no unresolved reconciliation break remains open beyond five working days without a documented resolution plan.

Weekly:

  • AMR Flash showing platform-to-ledger reconciliation performance against the >90% KPI.
  • Track major exceptions, responsible owners, and resolution status.

Monthly:

  • D2: Preliminary country trial balances reviewed.
  • D3: Revenue Exception Log and AR Ageing & Collections Status Report.
  • D5: CEO Flash covering Group P&L, cash, BvA narrative, rolling forecast, key risks, and Programme Finance summary.
  • D7: Signed Group Management Accounts submitted for GFC attestation.

Quarterly / Annual:

  • Statutory-ready Group financial statements.
  • ERP governance and Power BI data quality reports.
  • Annual consolidated IFRS financial statements.
  • Annual accounting policy review and IAS 8 disclosure updates.
  • Audit completion report and management letter response.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Fully qualified ACCA, CA, or CPA membership in good standing is required.
  • Fellowship-level qualification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Master's Degree or MBA is an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, Group consolidation, or external audit.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Group consolidation lead or Chief Accounting Officer in a multi-entity environment.
  • Experience with ERP finance ownership, particularly MS Dynamics 365, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Experience in finance business design and master data governance.
  • Big Four or major audit firm experience is highly desirable.
  • Fintech, banking, or multi-market African operating experience is an advantage.
  • Revenue assurance or platform-to-ledger reconciliation experience is preferred.
