DCA works to improve the well-being of rural and peri-urban communities in Ethiopia. Its programs focus on saving lives, building resilience, and fighting inequality, particularly in disaster-prone areas of Oromia, Amhara, Afar, South Omo, and Gambella.

DCA is inviting qualified applicants to apply for the following positions.

Position 1: Community Development Facilitator

Required Number: 2
Duty Stations: Afar Region — one position in Erebti Woreda and one in Megale Woreda
Reports To: Emergency Food Security and Livelihood Officer
Contract Duration: Until January 7, 2027
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum diploma in Social Science, Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Rural Development, Economics, Disaster Risk Management, or another related field.

At least 2 years of relevant field-level experience.

Practical experience with the RedRose database and digital data-collection or MPCA assistance-delivery platforms, such as RR-Collect, RedRose, KoboToolbox, or similar systems, is an advantage.

Experience in Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), ESNFI distribution, community mobilization, beneficiary targeting and registration, distribution monitoring, complaints and feedback handling, and field-level reporting.

Good communication, facilitation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and under challenging field conditions.

Ability to prepare clear activity updates and reports and maintain accurate beneficiary and distribution records.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Knowledge of the local operational context is an advantage.

Proficiency in English.

Fluency in the local language is mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in protection programming, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response, case management, and psychosocial support in humanitarian settings.

Strong understanding of protection principles, GBV, and child protection standards.

Experience in community engagement and capacity building.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.

Proficiency in English.

Fluency in the local language is mandatory.
