Job Description
The Economic Affairs Officer (Health Economist) will support African member States in macroeconomic and structural policy development, with a focus on economic diversification, job creation, innovative financing, and inclusive growth.
Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will:
- Support African countries in macroeconomic and structural policy formulation.
- Contribute to economic diversification and employment generation strategies.
- Develop and assess innovative financing models for infrastructure and human development.
- Provide policy advice on domestic resource mobilization and public finance management.
- Address regional and transboundary economic challenges, including social inclusion.
- Advocate Africa’s position in global economic governance discussions.
Job Requirements
Education
Advanced university degree in Economics, Development Economics, Public Finance, Health Economics, or related field.
Work Experience
Relevant professional experience in economic analysis, macroeconomic policy, public finance, or health economics at national or international level.
Competencies
- Strong analytical and policy advisory skills.
- Solid understanding of macroeconomic management and governance frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong drafting and communication skills.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
