IOM Ethiopia Vacancy 2026 – Project Associate (Reintegration)

Job Summary

The Project Associate will support IOM's reintegration activities through beneficiary assistance, community-based reintegration, livelihoods support, referrals, follow-up, economic inclusion and Enterprise Development Fund activities.

The position will work closely with returnees, communities, local authorities and service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct beneficiary assessments and support individual reintegration plans.
• Deliver and follow up on reintegration assistance.
• Support livelihoods, vocational training, business development and referral activities.
• Maintain beneficiary case files and update MiMOSA and reintegration tracking systems.
• Conduct beneficiary monitoring and follow-up visits.
• Support Community-Based Reintegration activities.
• Participate in Community-Based Planning processes.
• Support skills development, income-generating activities, cooperatives and business support.
• Assist with Enterprise Development Fund activities.
• Support returnees' access to financial services, microfinance institutions and business opportunities.
• Undertake field missions for beneficiary support, procurement, training and activity monitoring.
• Support community engagement, awareness-raising and beneficiary mobilization.
• Collect monitoring data, beneficiary feedback, success stories and lessons learned.
• Prepare activity and field mission reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• High school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or
• Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Relevant Experience:

Experience with:

• Migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking or other vulnerable groups.
• Counselling and referral support.
• Return and reintegration programs.
• Livelihoods or protection programming.
• Government counterparts and partner organizations.
• UN agencies, NGOs or international organizations is preferred.

Required Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
• Understanding of social protection, migration and migrant protection issues is an advantage.

Languages

• English – required
• Amharic – required
• Afaan Oromo and/or Tigrigna – desirable
