Job Description
EthioChicken is looking for a Junior Tax Accountant to support tax compliance and reporting activities within its Finance team. The role involves maintaining accurate tax records, assisting with tax filings and reconciliations, preparing supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with Ethiopian tax regulations under the guidance of senior finance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in applying proper tax deductions to payments, collections, and sales transactions in accordance with tax regulations.
- Maintain accurate daily tax records, including VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) transactions.
- Support the review of monthly tax records related to payroll, cost sharing, and other tax-related activities.
- Assist in preparing tax reconciliations to ensure accurate ledger balances.
- Support the preparation and timely filing of payroll tax, VAT, WHT, pension, royalty tax, reverse VAT, and Technical VAT returns.
- Maintain accurate records of tax obligations and settlements.
- Reconcile VAT and WHT ledgers with monthly tax declarations and payments.
- Monitor tax payable balances and verify settlement records.
- Prepare supporting documents for tax claims, refunds, tax clearance certificates, and other tax office requirements.
- Maintain organized tax documentation, directives, and supporting records.
- Provide documentation required during tax audits and regulatory reviews.
- Participate in tax-related training and apply updated tax regulations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
- Fresh graduates (0 years of experience) are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles and tax compliance.
- Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics NAV is an advantage).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn.
