About Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia

Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia (TLHE) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity established in July 2004. The organization works to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and reduce its socioeconomic impact among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) and other most-at-risk populations (MARPs).

Through peer education, health and well-being education, referral networking, capacity building, conflict resolution, and life-skills training, TLHE supports vulnerable women and girls to improve their health, safety, and livelihoods.

About the Position

TLHE is seeking a qualified, motivated, and passionate DIC Coordinator to lead and coordinate activities at its Drop-In Center (DIC) in Bahir Dar.

The DIC Coordinator will provide overall leadership and coordination of DIC activities, ensuring effective service delivery, quality implementation, proper documentation, and strong collaboration with stakeholders and service providers.

The position will work under the direct supervision of the Program Manager and M&E Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all Drop-In Center activities to ensure timely and high-quality implementation.
  • Supervise and support DIC staff to improve performance and accountability.
  • Represent TLHE in regional meetings, coordination forums, and stakeholder platforms.
  • Promote behavioral change interventions among Female Sex Workers (FSWs), including:
    • Proper condom use and disposal
    • Condom negotiation skills
    • STI/HIV awareness
    • Communication skills with sexual partners
    • Reduction of drug and alcohol abuse
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and functional Drop-In Center providing daily training and edutainment activities.
  • In collaboration with outreach workers, identify and select FSWs for peer education training.
  • Provide refresher training and continuous supervision to peer educators.
  • Organize stakeholder meetings and facilitate MOUs with health, legal, social, and vocational training service providers.
  • Strengthen referral systems and networking using standardized referral slips.
  • Ensure proper use of data collection tools and reporting formats.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and registry systems.
  • Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
  • Prepare and submit timely monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Facilitate financial processes, including timely settlement of advances and payments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or college in:

  • Clinical Nursing
  • Environmental Health
  • Health Education
  • Public Health
  • Psychology
  • Other related health disciplines

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree: Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Diploma: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with NGOs is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Amharic.
  • Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage.
