Job Description
Job SummaryGIZ African Union is seeking a Project Coordinator for Digital Sovereignty in Africa to support the implementation of a project focused on reducing dependencies on foreign digital solutions and strengthening digital independence across African countries.
The project supports African governments by identifying and sharing international experiences in areas such as open-source solutions in the public sector, digital public infrastructure, domestic payment systems, and sovereign cloud architectures. These experiences will contribute to African Union frameworks and national digital sovereignty strategies.
The Project Coordinator will work as part of the core project team, supporting project management, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, communication activities, and coordination with government and private sector partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Director in coordinating project activities, team collaboration, meetings, knowledge sharing, and follow-up of deliverables.
- Develop and manage an online knowledge platform featuring global examples and updates related to digital sovereignty.
- Identify interview partners and coordinate interviews for podcasts and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Plan and manage events with government institutions and private sector stakeholders from AU member states.
- Prepare and manage contracts with experts and service providers.
- Support communication activities including fact sheets, social media content, and other project materials.
- Facilitate coordination among diverse stakeholders in an international cooperation environment.
- Contribute to knowledge management and documentation of project achievements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Completed university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
- Preferred fields include:
- International Relations
- Public Administration
- Communications
- Business Management
- Digital Transformation or related fields
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in areas such as:
- Digital policy
- eGovernment
- International organizations
- Digital solution procurement
- Project management
- Communication and knowledge management
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Good understanding of digital transformation issues.
- Knowledge of digital public infrastructure, IT procurement, cloud computing, and digital policy debates is an advantage.
- Excellent English communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
- Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Strong networking and stakeholder management abilities.
- High computer proficiency:
