Job Description
Job SummaryThe M&E/Accountability Officer will support and strengthen Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems. The position focuses on data quality, monitoring, assessments, reporting, accountability mechanisms, community feedback, learning, and evidence-based program improvement.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Manage data entry, cleaning, validation, and analysis using Microsoft Excel and other data tools
- Support assessments, surveys, registration, monitoring, and field data collection
- Conduct routine data quality assurance and verification
- Maintain accurate databases, beneficiary records, and supporting documentation
- Facilitate beneficiary registration, verification, and tracking
- Coordinate baseline, end-line, needs assessments, and post-distribution monitoring
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits
- Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports, impact stories, lessons learned, and analytical summaries
- Develop project baselines, woreda/district profiles, and situation analyses
- Support proposal development and donor reporting with MEAL data and analysis
- Develop and maintain logframes, indicator tracking tables, workbooks, and reporting tools
- Train project staff on MEAL tools, data collection, reporting, and indicator definitions
- Verify reported achievements and ensure proper Means of Verification (MOV) documentation
- Support Feedback and Response Mechanisms (FRM) and community engagement
- Document best practices, challenges, case studies, and impact stories
- Participate in project reviews, learning events, and evaluations
- Prepare TORs and provide technical support for assessments and surveys
🎓 Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Statistics
- Economics
- Development Studies
- Project Management
- or related field
- 3–4 years of relevant experience
- Experience with data entry in an INGO is preferred
🗣️ Language Requirements
- English: Proficiency required
- Amharic: Proficiency required
- Regional language: Required
- Additional Ethiopian language: Advantage
💻 Required Skills
- Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Knowledge of data analysis platforms
- Strong understanding of M&E/MEAL frameworks
- Knowledge of accountability systems and learning approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and time management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure

- Willingness to work with diverse communities

The position may involve:
- Regular field travel within Ethiopia
- Working in hot/humid conditions
- Exposure to communicable diseases
- Working in a fluid security environment
- Physical activities including walking, standing and field movement
