Job Description

YADAM Foundation, in partnership with UNICEF, is seeking a Senior Nutrition Specialist to provide technical leadership on advocacy and . The position will help translate national and global commitments—including Ethiopia's Food and Nutrition Strategy, Seqota Declaration, N4G commitments, SDGs, and the UNICEF Child Food Poverty Framework—into practical regional policies.

Key Responsibilities

Nutrition & Food Systems Programming

  • Provide technical leadership on nutrition-sensitive food systems and agriculture programming.
  • Integrate approaches such as crop diversification, homestead gardening, and value-chain strengthening.
  • Support the design, planning, and implementation of nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food-systems projects.
  • Ensure project activities align with Ethiopia's Food and Nutrition Policy/Strategy, Seqota Declaration, N4G commitments, SDGs, and UNICEF Child Food Poverty Framework.

Policy Advocacy & Evidence Generation

  • Synthesize evidence on the drivers of child food poverty and malnutrition.
  • Translate evidence into policy briefs, advocacy messages, and recommendations.
  • Design and facilitate policy dialogues, roundtables, workshops, and multi-stakeholder consultations.
  • Represent YADAM Foundation in technical working groups, donor coordination forums, and sector-level meetings.

Resource Mobilization & Proposal Development

  • Identify and track funding opportunities relevant to nutrition, agriculture, and food systems.
  • Develop concept notes, technical proposals, budgets, and partnership agreements.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of funding opportunities.
  • Develop resource mobilization strategies and donor/partnership mapping.
  • Work with bilateral, multilateral, UN, foundation, and other development partners.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, regional bureaus, UN agencies, donors, and development partners.
  • Organize workshops, trainings, consultations, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Work with farmer groups, cooperatives, government counterparts, and communities.

Monitoring, Reporting & Learning

  • Monitor project implementation against approved work plans.
  • Track project indicators and prepare periodic progress and donor reports.
  • Support MEAL activities, including data collection and documentation of results.
  • Develop case studies, knowledge products, communications materials, and lessons learned.

Key Deliverables

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health Nutrition, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Food Systems, Rural Development, or a related field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Additional training or professional background in nutrition is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive professional experience in agriculture, food systems, nutrition-sensitive programming, or related project design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and resource mobilization, including successful funding applications.
  • Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, trainings, and multi-stakeholder meetings.
  • Familiarity with major donor requirements and procedures, including UN agencies, USAID, EU, and foundations, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopia's agriculture and food-systems policy environment.
  • Experience working with government agencies or UN bodies is highly desirable.

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

  • Technical proposal / written test quality – 40%
  • Relevant professional experience in food systems, agriculture, or nutrition-sensitive programming – 30%
  • Interview performance – 30%
