Job Description
PAD is seeking a detail-oriented Cashier Accountant to manage cash handling, financial transactions, record keeping, and compliance with organizational and donor financial policies. The role supports both office and field-level operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Management & Transactions
- Safeguard petty cash and maintain accurate daily cash records.
- Process cash disbursements for approved operational expenses.
- Collect and receipt all incoming cash, issuing official receipts immediately.
- Perform daily cash counts and reconcile with the cash book.
Payment Processing & Verification
- Verify payment requests, supporting documents, and budget adherence.
- Prepare checks and bank transfers as needed.
- Coordinate with program and logistics staff for timely payments.
Record Keeping & Documentation
- Maintain organized financial filing systems.
- Stamp all paid documents as “PAID” to prevent duplication.
- Assist in monthly financial closures and audit preparation.
Banking & Reconciliation
- Prepare bank deposits and liaise with banks for routine transactions.
- Assist in monthly bank reconciliation processes.
Compliance & Accountability
- Adhere strictly to PAD’s Finance Manual, Anti-Fraud Policy, and donor guidelines.
- Report any fraud, bribery, or discrepancies immediately.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
Job Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 2–3 years in cash handling, bookkeeping, or accounting, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian context.
- Language: Fluency in English and Amharic (written and spoken). Local language knowledge is an advantage.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel), accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks, Odoo).
Desirable:
- Experience with donor compliance (UN, ECHO, ShelterBox).
- Familiarity with mobile money or digital payments.
- Knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations.
- Experience in field operations in remote locations.
