Job Description

World Vision is seeking for Community Nutrition Promoter who will be responsible for implementing community-level nutrition activities as part of the Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) program. The role focuses on community mobilization, early case finding, and linking beneficiaries to treatment programs. Working in close coordination with Health Extension Workers (HEWs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Implementation: Ensure the timely and proper implementation of community-level nutrition activities in close coordination with community structures (HEWs and Health Development Armies).
  • Case Finding & Linkage: Facilitate regular nutritional screening activities and ensure beneficiaries are correctly targeted and linked to the Therapeutic Feeding Program (TFP).
  • Community Mobilization: Mobilize communities (both host and IDPs) and provide technical support for TFP activities, including sensitizing caretakers and pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) on the Family MUAC approach to screen for TFP targets.
  • Awareness Creation: Conduct regular cooking demonstrations and mass awareness creation sessions at Health Posts.
  • Support Groups: Establish, follow up, and provide technical support for mother-to-mother support groups at the Kebele level.
  • Resource Management: Ensure necessary job aids (HEW quick references, look-up tables, report formats, and awareness creation guides) are available at Health Posts and TFP sites.
  • IYCF-E Support: Effectively support Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) activities at the community level in collaboration with HEWs and the women's developmental army.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • BSc Degree or Diploma in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, or a related health field of study from an accredited university or health college.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of working experience with NGOs in CMAM programming.

Technical Certifications (Required):

  • Certified on the revised 2019 Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) guideline.
  • Certified in IYCF-E training.
  • Trained on the Family MUAC approach and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP)/MAM.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in community-level structures and CMAM program planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and human relation skills.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and adapt to challenging and remote field conditions.
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values and high levels of integrity, cultural sensitivity, and emotional stability.
