About Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS)The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia.ERCS provides humanitarian and community services including emergency response, ambulance and first aid services, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and disaster risk reduction programs.

The Society operates through a nationwide structure comprising Regional Offices, Zonal Branches, District/Woreda Branches, and community-level Red Cross committees. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, IFRC, ICRC, Partner National Societies, members, volunteers, and the communities it serves.

Job Summary

The Senior Resource Mobilization, Development and IGAs Management Officer will support the branch's resource mobilization, local partnership development, membership growth, and income-generating activities.

The position will contribute to developing and implementing strategies for fundraising, corporate social responsibility (CSR), government support, membership development, and income-generating activities (IGAs).

The role will also support the management and expansion of ERCS physical assets and IGA schemes, including multi-purpose buildings, shops, pharmacy outlets, farmland, and other income-generating activities.

The position holder will ensure that resource mobilization and income-generation activities are aligned with ERCS policies, strategies, SOPs, guidelines, humanitarian principles, and long-term sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement annual resource mobilization, income-generation, local partnership, and membership growth targets and operational plans.
  • Implement the branch's Resource Development, Mobilization and Utilization Strategy.
  • Maintain transparent financial tracking and reporting systems for fundraising, IGA income, government subsidies, membership fees, and other sources of income.
  • Ensure resource mobilization activities comply with ERCS policies, strategies, SOPs, and guidelines.
  • Support financial sustainability through prudent resource allocation and revenue diversification.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting through resource mobilization and membership information systems.
  • Identify, initiate, and maintain relationships with potential donors, private-sector partners, government institutions, and community stakeholders.
  • Implement strategies to develop physical assets through public and private partnerships.
  • Strengthen relationships with local authorities to increase government subsidies and support.
  • Promote collaboration with private-sector actors, NGOs, and community organizations.
  • Work with communities and partners to promote Red Cross humanitarian principles and values.
  • Ensure compliance with ERCS policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles in fundraising and partnership engagements.
  • Develop and implement fundraising initiatives, sponsorships, and CSR funding opportunities.
  • Prepare persuasive proposals, Terms of Reference (ToRs), and funding agreements in collaboration with relevant managers.
  • Design and implement branch-level fundraising campaigns, events, and public engagement activities.
  • Develop strategies to recruit, retain, and engage individual and institutional members.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database.
  • Develop innovative strategies to expand existing income-generating activities.
  • Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and business plans for IGA expansion or diversification.
  • Conduct market assessments and support periodic review of income from leased IGAs.
  • Ensure proper documentation, recording, and reporting of leased IGA activities.
  • Follow up and report on the performance and operations of pharmacies and drug outlets within the branch.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports for the Branch Head and the Business Development and Resource Mobilization Department at headquarters.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Applicants should have a:

Experience

  • 6–8 years of relevant work experience
  • At least 3–4 years of experience in a senior-level position
