Job Description
Norwegian Refugee Council is looking for a Finance Assistant to support daily financial operations. The role focuses on assisting with financial documentation, payments, reconciliations, and reporting while ensuring compliance with NRC financial procedures and policies
Key Responsibilities
General Duties
- Follow NRC policies, guidelines, and financial procedures.
- Assist in implementing finance activities according to the work plan.
- Prepare and update status reports as required by management.
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records according to NRC standards.
- Support project staff with financial matters and clarifications.
- Suggest improvements to strengthen finance processes.
Finance & Accounting Tasks
- Verify supplier invoices and supporting documents before payments.
- Ensure timely processing of payments.
- Assist with month-end accounting closing processes.
- Ensure financial documents are copied, scanned, and properly filed.
- Submit original documents to the country office monthly.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
Cash & Payment Management
- Assist in managing petty cash and cheque payments.
- Prepare payment vouchers for cash and cheque transactions.
- Assist with bank and cash reconciliation.
- Ensure bank balances and cash box records are accurate.
- Support payments for labor or activities in camps and communities.
Compliance & Communication
- Ensure taxes and government payments are settled monthly.
- Maintain clear communication with staff regarding financial matters.
Job Requirements
Education
BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in finance or accounting.
- Experience working in complex or challenging environments is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
