Job Description

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) seeks a Finance Specialist to lead budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. The role manages multi-donor finances, ensures compliance with donor and DRC policies, maintains ERP data accuracy, strengthens finance team capacity, and supports strategic financial decision-making across the country program.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Budgeting & Proposal Development

  • Lead preparation and revision of donor budgets (ECHO, EU, SIDA, FCDO, BHA/USAID, DANIDA, UNICEF, etc.).
  • Develop budget narratives and cost allocation justifications.
  • Coordinate with Program, HR, and Supply Chain teams during proposal development.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and internal financial procedures.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead donor financial reporting processes and quality control.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports, reconciliations, and management notes.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and statutory financial requirements.
  • Support internal and external financial reporting.

Financial Analysis & Forecasting

  • Conduct budget follow-up (BFU) meetings and variance analysis.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, burn-rate analysis, and funding projections.
  • Support Master Budget planning and resource allocation decisions.
  • Monitor project funding levels and shared support costs.

ERP Systems & Data Management

  • Strengthen utilization of Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
  • Improve financial data quality and reporting systems.
  • Develop user guides and support troubleshooting.
  • Produce financial analytics and management dashboards.

Capacity Building & Team Support

  • Coach and mentor finance staff.
  • Facilitate training on budgeting, reporting, Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Build finance team capacity through practical learning sessions.

Audit & Partner Financial Management

  • Support audits and documentation reviews.
  • Conduct partner financial assessments and due diligence.
  • Review partner financial reports and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in partner project kick-off and close-out meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of international experience in NGO/humanitarian financial management.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading donor budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Experience with major donors such as ECHO, EU, SIDA, FCDO, USAID/BHA, DANIDA, UNICEF, and UNHCR.
  • Strong experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and donor compliance.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, INDEX/XMATCH, SUMIFS).
  • Microsoft Dynamics ERP experience preferred.
  • Financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Budget management and reporting.
  • Training and mentoring skills.

Languages

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
