Job Description

This Head of Operations role focuses on improving operational performance across supply chain, facilities, IT systems, and administration, while supporting programs that create long-term impact. The role also works closely with the Country Director and program teams to strengthen systems, partnerships, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop operational strategies aligned with the organization’s mission in Ethiopia.
  • Improve efficiency, service delivery, and cost management across operational units.
  • Work closely with program teams to ensure smooth operational support.
  • Advise the Country Director on operational planning and improvements.

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, private sector actors, and communities.
  • Represent the organization in coordination meetings and operational forums.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities to improve operational capacity.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the Supply Chain, Facilities, and IT management teams.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular team performance reviews.

Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and donor regulations.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships and ensure cost-effective purchasing.

Facilities Management

  • Ensure offices and facilities are safe, functional, and properly maintained.
  • Coordinate office planning, infrastructure projects, and space management.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.

IT Systems Management

  • Provide strategic oversight for IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure reliable and secure technology solutions.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure operations comply with legal requirements and internal policies.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Support operational budgeting and financial monitoring.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources across departments.
  • Track operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

  • Business Administration
  • Operations Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Or related field

Experience

  • 10+ years professional experience
  • 5+ years in senior operations leadership roles
  • Experience managing supply chain, facilities, IT, and administrative functions

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management ability
  • Strategic planning and operational management skills
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Budget management and stakeholder coordination experience
