Job Description

DRC is seeking a qualified Human Resource Officer to support HR operations in the Addis Ababa Country Office. The role focuses on HR administration, payroll processing, employee relations, onboarding, and maintaining accurate HR systems and records in line with DRC policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Organize staff orientation and ensure proper onboarding processes
  • Provide HR orientation for field offices
  • Support goal setting and probation follow-up for new staff

HR Systems Management

  • Maintain and update employee data in DRC Dynamics (ERP system)
  • Manage staff records including leave, contracts, and benefits
  • Update employee status changes (promotion, transfer, termination)
  • Support payroll processing and HR data management

Contract Management

  • Ensure timely contract extensions and updates
  • Draft and process employment-related documents (contracts, promotions, transfers)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate deductions
  • Handle employee benefits and insurance
  • Support pension registration and compliance
  • Prepare monthly HR reports for audits

Recruitment & Employee Development

  • Support recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Assist in performance appraisal and training activities
  • Contribute to staff wellbeing and development initiatives

General HR Support

  • Maintain HR records and documentation
  • Support travel arrangements and administrative tasks when required
  • Participate in HR-related initiatives and task forces

Job Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant HR experience
  • Experience in INGOs is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with recruitment systems or ERP tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Fluency in English and Amharic
