Job Description
EHRC is seeking a Human Rights Officer, Women’s Rights to monitor, investigate and report on human-rights issues affecting women and support the promotion and protection of women's rights.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct monitoring of institutions to assess compliance with human-rights standards.
- Conduct fact-finding missions and investigations into violations of women's rights.
- Prepare human-rights reports, briefing notes, statements and communications.
- Follow up on recommendations from human-rights bodies.
- Produce statistics, trend reports and monitoring updates.
- Coordinate with government institutions, NGOs, CSOs, UN agencies and development partners.
- Support capacity-building and human-rights training activities.
- Mainstream gender, women's rights and GBV considerations into EHRC programs.
- Participate in investigations involving women.
- Provide technical support concerning women's human rights.
- Report regularly on progress, challenges and monitoring activities.
Qualifications & experience
🎓 Education: LLB, LLM or MA in:
- Law
- Human Rights Law
- International Law
💼 Experience:
- LLB: 4 years relevant experience
- LLM/MA: 2 years relevant experience
💻 Other requirements:
- Computer literacy
- Amharic required
- Knowledge of other Ethiopian local languages is an advantage.
