Job Description

EHRC is seeking a Human Rights Officer, Women’s Rights to monitor, investigate and report on human-rights issues affecting women and support the promotion and protection of women's rights.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct monitoring of institutions to assess compliance with human-rights standards.
  • Conduct fact-finding missions and investigations into violations of women's rights.
  • Prepare human-rights reports, briefing notes, statements and communications.
  • Follow up on recommendations from human-rights bodies.
  • Produce statistics, trend reports and monitoring updates.
  • Coordinate with government institutions, NGOs, CSOs, UN agencies and development partners.
  • Support capacity-building and human-rights training activities.
  • Mainstream gender, women's rights and GBV considerations into EHRC programs.
  • Participate in investigations involving women.
  • Provide technical support concerning women's human rights.
  • Report regularly on progress, challenges and monitoring activities.

Qualifications & experience

🎓 Education: LLB, LLM or MA in:

  • Law
  • Human Rights Law
  • International Law

💼 Experience:

  • LLB: 4 years relevant experience
  • LLM/MA: 2 years relevant experience

💻 Other requirements:

  • Computer literacy
  • Amharic required
  • Knowledge of other Ethiopian local languages is an advantage.
