Job Description
Medical Teams International is seeking a qualified Nutrition Officer to strengthen nutrition services host communities in Ethiopia. The position supports health centers, health posts, and communities by ensuring the effective implementation of CMAM, OTP, TSFP, IYCF, and nutrition interventions in collaboration with government health structures and community health workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, analyze, document, and report nutrition situations and trends within project areas.
- Coordinate technical and logistical support for woreda nutrition interventions.
- Support implementation of CMAM, OTP, TSFP, SC, and IYCF activities.
- Train Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and health professionals on the 2019 National Acute Malnutrition Management Protocol and IYCF.
- Provide technical support to Ministry of Health staff on SAM management and IYCF.
- Supervise nutrition screening, admissions, referrals, treatment, and discharge of malnourished children.
- Ensure proper implementation of Therapeutic Feeding Program (TFP) and Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) services.
- Monitor CMAM program performance and coverage in health facilities and communities.
- Ensure timely delivery of nutrition supplies and proper documentation of beneficiary records.
- Coordinate with woreda health offices, government institutions, and partners on nutrition activities.
- Promote accountability, safeguarding, child protection, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
- Support reporting, monitoring, and other program activities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- BSc Degree in:
- Nursing
- Health Officer
- Nutrition
Required
- Valid professional license.
- Training of Trainers (TOT) on the 2019 National Acute Malnutrition Management Protocol.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience working at a Primary Health Care (PHC) facility.
- At least 1 year managing nutrition services within an NGO.
- Experience with international NGOs is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of humanitarian and development nutrition programs.
- CMAM, OTP, TSFP, SAM, and IYCF implementation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
