Online Translator – ChildFund Ethiopia

This is a one-year volunteerism opportunity based on individual-level contractual service agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate children's letters from Amharic and/or Afaan Oromo into English.
• Complete translation assignments through the Letter Translation Exchange (LTE) website.
• Ensure translations are accurate, clear, culturally appropriate, and faithful to the original message.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling children's letters and personal information.
• Complete assigned translation tasks within the required timelines.
• Use personal computer and internet services to access the translation platform and complete assignments.
• Maintain professional standards and comply with ChildFund's safeguarding and organizational policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in:
  • English
  • Communication
  • Journalism
  • or a related field.

Language Requirements:

• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Amharic and/or Afaan Oromo.

Experience:

• Previous translation or related professional experience is preferred.
