Job Description
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking a Project Lead – Digital Supply Chain for a potential Gates Foundation-funded project in Ethiopia focused on improving the last-mile visibility of vaccines and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) commodities.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Technical Leadership
- Provide strategic, technical, managerial, and operational leadership to ensure project outcomes and milestones are achieved.
- Lead development and implementation of technical strategies, workplans, results frameworks, and performance monitoring approaches.
- Provide technical leadership in health product and pharmaceutical supply chain strengthening.
- Support forecasting, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, last-mile delivery, vaccine logistics, and supply chain performance management.
- Oversee assessment of Ethiopia's digital supply chain ecosystem and development of future-state digital architecture and implementation roadmaps.
- Guide the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital supply chain pilot solutions.
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a primary liaison with the Gates Foundation and senior Government of Ethiopia counterparts.
- Build relationships with the Ministry of Health, EPSS, RHBs, EFDA, and other stakeholders.
- Support government capacity strengthening, supply chain governance, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
- Lead change management, sustainability, institutional strengthening, and transition toward government ownership.
- Coordinate with donors, implementing partners, universities, local organizations, and technology partners.
Project & People Management
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, MSH policies, and applicable procedures.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary project team.
- Oversee project partners, subawardees, and consultants.
- Support budget monitoring, financial stewardship, risk management, and efficient use of project resources.
- Document and disseminate project results, lessons learned, and implementation evidence.
- Represent MSH and the project at relevant technical meetings and forums.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Postgraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, Health Systems Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in health product and/or pharmaceutical supply chain management.
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience is preferred.
- Significant experience strengthening public-sector health supply chains.
- Experience leading complex donor-funded health supply chain, pharmaceutical systems, or health systems strengthening programs.
- Previous experience as a Project Director, Chief of Party, Team Lead, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Significant professional experience in Ethiopia's health sector is required.
- Experience working with the Government of Ethiopia, particularly MoH, EPSS, RHBs, and/or EFDA, is highly desirable.
