Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, supporting audits, preparing financial reports, and assisting management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BSc Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an added advantage

Work Experience:

Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance, preferably in insurance, banking, or financial institutions

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Ensure timely processing of accounts payable, receivable, and payroll transactions
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts regularly
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation
  • Monitor budgets and expenditures and report variances to management
  • Assist in financial planning, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Maintain proper documentation of financial transactions and records
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Good understanding of Ethiopian tax laws and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
