Job Description
YADAM Foundation is seeking an experienced Social Enterprise Strategy Consultant to develop a costed and actionable social enterprise strategy and lead its early implementation.The consultant will help YADAM diversify its income base while ensuring that new ventures remain aligned with the organization's core nutrition mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess YADAM's existing assets, capabilities, networks, and market opportunities relevant to social enterprise development.
- Identify and shortlist priority social enterprise concepts through feasibility and risk screening.
- Design a comprehensive Social Enterprise Strategy covering:
- Business models
- Governance arrangements
- Financial structuring
- Three-year financial projections
- Risk management matrix
- Facilitate internal validation and approval of the strategy with the Senior Management Team and Board.
- Lead the operational set-up and piloting of at least one priority income-generating venture.
- Establish appropriate financial controls in coordination with the Finance team.
- Build the capacity of designated YADAM staff to manage and sustain the enterprise beyond the consultancy period.
Key Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to deliver:
- Inception report and work plan.
- Diagnostic and market/landscape assessment report.
- Board-approved Social Enterprise Strategy and implementation plan.
- Operational tools, including costing/pricing framework, business plan template, and monitoring indicators.
- Final handover report and transition plan.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in Economics, Social Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, Finance, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience designing and/or launching social enterprises, income-generating activities, or commercial ventures.
- Strong understanding of business modeling, financial projections, and costing/pricing for social-impact ventures.
- Familiarity with the Ethiopian non-profit regulatory environment and East African social enterprise landscape.
- Previous experience advising NGOs or mission-driven organizations in food systems or nutrition is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading implementation and launching ventures, not only developing strategies.
- Valid consultancy service license, where applicable, should be attached.
