Job Description

UNICEF is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to support the day-to-day reception, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, and dispatch of UNICEF supplies. The position will ensure that supplies are properly handled, stored under appropriate conditions, and accurately recorded in UNICEF’s inventory systems.The role will work under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Assistant (GS-5).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving, unloading, stacking, and properly storing UNICEF supplies according to warehouse procedures.
  • Apply FIFO/FEFO principles when managing inventory.
  • Receive, pick, put away supplies, and prepare waybills using VISION.
  • Update inventory records in VISION and bin cards to maintain stock accuracy.
  • Conduct periodic physical stock counts and report discrepancies, damages, and near-expiry items.
  • Support picking, packing, loading, and dispatching supplies to Implementing Partners and field offices.
  • Assist with transportation arrangements and prepare dispatch documents, including gate passes and waybills.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and proper storage conditions.
  • Monitor and maintain warehouse equipment and storage areas.
  • Maintain organized warehouse documentation and filing systems.
  • Support day-to-day warehouse operations as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Completion of Secondary Education is required.

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in operations and supply chain functions, including:
    • Supply management
    • Logistics
    • Warehouse operations
    • Inventory management
    • Distribution
    • Materials handling
    • Stock control
    • Transportation coordination
    • Document control
    • Emergency response
    • Or related areas

  • Good communication skills.

  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Relevant technical knowledge of warehouse and supply-chain operations.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required.

Desirable Qualifications

The following are considered an advantage:

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language.
  • Experience with FIFO/FEFO inventory practices.
  • Experience with ERP and VISION systems.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures.
  • Experience in stock reconciliation and dispatch documentation.
  • Experience working in development, fragile, or humanitarian contexts.
