Job Description

The Senior Procurement Officer plays a key role in ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services necessary for smooth company operations. The position is responsible for planning procurement strategies, identifying and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Forecast procurement requirements in collaboration with user departments.
  • Ensure procurement activities support operational timelines and production schedules.

Supplier Sourcing & Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers based on quality, cost, and performance.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and maintain approved supplier lists.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any supply chain issues.

Contract Negotiation & Compliance

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve cost efficiency and value for money.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Purchase Order & Process Management

  • Manage purchase orders, approvals, and follow-up processes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for smooth material flow.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reports.
  • Prepare periodic procurement performance reports for management.
  • Support management decision-making through data analysis.

Supervision

  • Provide guidance and oversight to procurement staff where applicable.
  • Ensure accountability and ethical standards are maintained within the department.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Experience in procurement reporting and documentation.
  • Exposure to ERP or procurement software is an added advantage.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and contract management.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
